Sprooki, Asia-Pacific’s first local marketing system for retailers, brands and malls, has appointed its first European partner, London-based retail data firm True Data.

True Data, a subsidiary of True Capital Partners, will introduce and support the expansion of Sprooki’s location-based marketing and commerce platform in the UK, where it’s estimated that almost three quarters of UK consumers own a smartphone1. True Data are a specialist alternative asset manager focusing solely on the retail and consumer sector, with deep industry experience as advisers, investors and as operational retail executives.

“eCommerce is prevalent in the UK and now account for 11% of the total retail market. This is expected to grow to reach U$ 10.49 billion in 20132 and mobile devices will play a large part of this growth”, said Matt Truman, CEO and Co-founder of True Capital. “True Data is delighted to partner with Sprooki to help our retail clients harness emerging retail technologies and engage connected UK shoppers”.

The company will leverage Sprooki’s current platform modules such as location and profile targeted messaging, m-couponing and promotions, in-app mobile commerce, events, interactive floorplans and indoor positioning to provide customised solutions and services to Britain’s largest malls, department stores and retail brands.

“The UK is obviously a huge eCommerce market. While retailers and mall groups have invested in their web-strategies for a number of years now, many are just getting started with mobile.” Said Michael Gethen, Co-founder and Director of Sprooki. “In partnership with True Data, we hope to help them get to market quickly with a tried and tested platform approach, which reduces the risk, time and cost of migrating to mobile.”
